Same Sex Marriages - Can You Make
Love Illegal?

The Citizens of the Great State of
California, in their questionable wisdom, voted on March 7th, 2000
to ban Gay and Lesbian marriages. Remember, this is the State that
prides itself on equality and politically correct thinking. This is
the state that has Palimony laws and was the benchmark State that
enacted Community Property Laws, ending decades of inequity in
Divorce Settlements.
California has an enormous openly gay
population. Some parts of California have become known for their
support of the Gay and Lesbian community, such as Berkeley, North
Hollywood, San Francisco, to name only a few. What has happened
here?!
You can't legislate love. You can't
legislate the legality of the desire to make a commitment to another
person. A legal commitment to another person. The desire to
stand up in front of friends, family and Deity to say "I love you
and I make this very public affirmation and vow that I love and
desire you above all others!" The Goddess doesn't differentiate
between gender when two (or more) people have this desire.
Love is one of the Great Mysteries.
We know it's a mystery. When you find your Soulmate, you usually
know it. Something clicks between you. You can't really explain
why you feel this way, you just know that this person sings to your
Soul in a way no one else does. If that person is of the opposite
sex, or the same sex, it doesn't matter.
All clergy of Goddess Moon Circles
will perform Same Sex Marriages. While these marriages may not have
legal standing, we are not the ones to legislate Love. Humankind
are not the ones to determine what constitutes a romantic
relationship between two consenting adults. That's up to the
Goddess in Her Wisdom.
Feel free to contact any of our
clergy listed on the State Marriage Laws page to arrange your
wedding or Handfasting. We are here to meet your needs. |
